Özyeğin University Celebrates the Global Entrepreneurship Week with A Rich Series of Events
Özyeğin University celebrates the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2014 with 3 separate events, simultenously with 150 countries around the world. Since its inception, Özyeğin University has been renowned for its entrepreneurial vision and its ardent academic and research efforts to add value to the society and infuse entrepreneurship in students.
This year, the Global Entepreneurship Week 2014 will be celebrated between November 17 and 23. In celebration of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Fit Start-Up Factory and the OzU Entrepreneurship Club will jointly bring a series of events to the Özyeğin University Çekmeköy Campus on November 17, 18, and 19.
“The Fit Startup Factory Introduction” will mark the launch of the celebrations on November 17, 2014, Monday. The event is designed to introduce participants to the Fit Start-Up Factory founded under the roof of OzU and to answer participants’ questions regarding how to share entrepreneurial ideas created on and off campus, which method or way to follow, and how to develop entrepreneurial skills.
The Fit Startup Factory Introduction will take place in the Conference Hall (G30) of the 2nd Academic Building on the Çekmeköy Campus between 16:00 and 17:00.
The celebrations will continue with the “Alibaba.com Film Screening” on November 18, 2014, Tuesday. The event will take place in the Reşat Aytaç Auditorium on the Çekmeköy Campus at 18:00. Porter Erisman, former CEO of Alibaba.com, will also be joining the event as guest speaker to talk about how he succeeded to rank Alibaba.com among the leading companies of the world and share his experience with participants. The talk will be followed by a special screening of “Crocodile In The Yangtze”, an engaging documentary on the rise of Alibaba.com.
The celebrations will conclude with the “Entrepreneurship Workshop: “I can manage my money” to be held on November 19, 2014, Wednesday between 13:00-16:00. The project “I can manage my money” is launched to harness financial awareness among young people to help them build a robust financial future for themselves with the ultimate objective of enticing them to contribute to sustainable development. Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Development, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Habitat Center for Development and Governance, Visa Europe Turkey and associated banks, the project, for the first time in Turkey, brings public institutions, private instutitions and NGOs together to raise financial awareness. In addition to the financial awareness seminar, the event will also offer an Entrepeneurship Workshop where teams of participants will be taking part in a series of entrepreneurial activities. Participants will receive a Certificate of Participation at the end of the event.
About the Global Entrepreneurship Week:
The Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is a campaign aimed to inspire young people to discover their true potential for innovation and choose entrepreurship as their future careers. The Global Entrepreneurship Week is celebrated each year in the second or third week of November simultenously with 150 countries all around the world. GEW is now in its seventh year in Turkey and will be celebrated between November 17 and 23, 2014.
Throughout the week, globally acclaimed entrepreneurs, the leading businessmen of Turkey, opinion leaders, professional executives and experts will be taking part in a wide range of events and activities to meet and connect with young people. Invited guests will share their knowledge and experience with young men and women between the ages of 15 and 30 to raise their entrepreneurial awareness and inspire them to discover their true potential for entrepreneurship.
In celebration of GEW, more than 200 stakeholders including non-governmental organizations, universities and public instutions will be organizing a wide range of events and activities all around Turkey throughout the week, including panels, conferences, seminar sessions, workshops, idea competitions, webinars and case studies.
