Prof. Alpay Er Elected to the Executive Board of the World Design Organization

Prof. Alpay Er, Head of our Industrial Design Department, has been elected to the Executive Board of the World Design Organization (WDO) during its 29th General Meeting. The general meeting was held from October 17th to October 18th, 2015 in Gwangju, South Korea. During the general meeting the name and vision of the World Design Organization have also been changed.
 
The World Design Organization (WDO/ICSID), previously the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID), is a non-governmental institution that globally represents the discipline of industrial design. The WDO/ICSID was founded in 1957. Today the WDO/ICSID is the common voice of the discipline of industrial design on the international platform, representing member organizations from more than 50 countries worldwide.
 
Prof. Alpay Er served as the first member elected from Turkey on the Executive Member of the WDO/ISCID between 2011 and 2013.  Apart from Özyeğin University, among other Turkish organizations affiliated with the World Design Organization (WDO/ISCID) are Arçelik, Industral Designers’ Society of Turkey, Izmir University of Economics, Kale, METU, Vestel Electronics, Vitra and Turkish Patent Institute (TPE).
