Prof. Dr. Ersin Kalaycıoğlu: Thinking of the Republic in the Second Century

Özyeğin Üniversitesi
Orman Sk
Nişantepe Mahallesi, Çekmeköy, İstanbul 34794

As the Republic enters its second century, the meaning of “the Republic” is being reexamined within Turkish political science. In this seminar, Prof. Dr. Ersin Kalaycıoğlu will explore how Kemalism, as a macro-ideology, shaped Turkey’s political modernization, how post-Kemalist critiques transformed the imagination of the Republic, and how the emerging post-post-Kemalist perspectives reflect a search for a new political language.

This discussion is not merely an ideological inquiry; it also opens new avenues for rethinking the relationship between the state, society, and citizenship in Turkey. From a political science perspective, it promises to be an illuminating session for those interested in understanding the intellectual foundations that sustain and transform the idea of the Republic.
