Ferhat Yıldırım graduated from the Faculty of Law at Marmara University and completed his LL.M. in Private Law at the Institute of Social Sciences of Yeditepe University. Following his graduation, he worked as a legal counsel and attorney in various companies and law firms. He later continued his doctoral studies in Vienna, where he completed judicial internships (Rechtshörerschaft) at the Vienna Commercial Court, the Vienna Civil Courts, and the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Between 2014 and 2017, Yıldırım served as a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Law of Özyeğin University. In 2015, he worked as a full-time lecturer at Istanbul Kemerburgaz (now Altınbaş) University, where he also served as the Head of the Justice Program. In 2016, within the framework of the ERASMUS Staff Mobility Programme, he taught the course "Introduction to Turkish Law" (Einführung in das türkische Recht) at the Faculty of Law of the University of Cologne. Since September 2017, he has been serving as a full-time lecturer in the Department of Private Law at the Faculty of Law of Özyeğin University.
Yıldırım completed his second master's degree, which he began in 2017, in March 2019 with a thesis entitled "Mediation and Ombudsmanship." In September 2019, he enrolled in the Ph.D. Program in Insurance at the Institute of Banking and Insurance of Marmara University. In June 2024, he was awarded his doctoral degree with his dissertation entitled "Professional Liability Insurance for Mediators: An Application."
Yıldırım has published numerous articles in legal journals. He is the author of the books "Mediation and Ombudsmanship" and "The Austrian Federal Mediation Act and the Turkish Mediation in Civil Disputes Act." He is also the editor of the book "International Mediation Symposium" and one of the editors of "Violence and Social Equality."
He was awarded research and academic scholarships by the Goethe-Institut (2015), Internationale Rechtliche Zusammenarbeit e.V. (IRZ) (2016), and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) (2022), which enabled him to conduct research and academic activities at various institutions and universities in Germany.
He is fluent in both German and English.
