REQUIRED COURSES 

PSY 501 Research Methods and Ethics 6 ECTS 

This course aims to introduce students to the knowledge, methods and techniques used in psychology research, as well as ethical principles. This advanced course covers basic scientific concepts, literature review, research question, theory and hypothesis creation and testing, experimental research design and research and publication ethics. 

PSY 502 Advanced Statistics 6 ECTS 

Focusing mainly on multivariate statistical methods, this course aims to develop competencies such as deciding which model is suitable for statistical analysis, organizing data and constructing predictive variables, constructing models to predict explained variation, and interpreting and presenting empirical findings. In this process, students will have knowledge about testing the fit of data with proposed statistical models to answer research questions, and will learn methods of interpretation of analysis results and model revision. 

PSY 551 Advanced Topics in Work and Organizational Psychology - I 10 ECTS 

This course examines the current literature on the processes of talent acquisition, development, and management. Topics covered include job analysis and competency modeling, recruitment and selection, performance management and career development in contemporary work organizations. The course further explores topics associated with enhancers and inhibitors of retention of qualified hires. 

PSY 552 Advanced Topics in Work and Organizational Psychology - II 10 ETCS 

This course examines current theory and issues in understanding and managing human behavior in organizational settings. Topics such as organizational commitment, communication, work engagement, work stress, attitudes and emotions, group dynamics, employee well-being, work stress, work-nonwork balance, diversity and inclusion, productivity, counterproductive behaviors are examined. 

PSY 503 Seminar 2 ECTS 

This course includes the presentation of current research by the faculty members and guest speakers. It is designed to help students develop research ideas and integrate different methods into their research and application work. 

 

PSY 560 Thesis Proposal in Industrial and Organizational Psychology 2 ECTS (with thesis program) 

In this course, students are expected to make a literature review, prepare a thesis proposal and present it at the end of the semester, in line with the guidance of the thesis advisor, for the thesis work that they will start in the following semester. 

PSY 694 Thesis Study I & PSY 695 Thesis Study II 30 ECTS & 30 ECTS 

In thesis courses, students develop their skills in data collection, preliminary analysis and hypothesis testing analysis. The course also aims to support students during the thesis writing process. This course aims to provide students with the necessary skills as a researcher after graduation. In this course, students analyze and report a data set they have collected or a ready-made data set in the further stages of their thesis work. According to the results of the analysis, they write their thesis and make their presentations. 

ELECTIVE COURSES

PSY 553 Work Analysis 6 ECTS 

This is an advanced course covering various methods and issues concerning work analysis and competency modeling.  It focuses on topics such as process of work analysis, purposes and techniques of work analysis, and the process of competency-based job analysis where jobs are described in terms of organization-specific measurable, observable behavioral competencies.


PSY 554 Selection and Evaluation in Organizations 6 ECTS 

This course addresses the theory and scientific methods of psychological assessment involved in personnel selection and performance management. The first part of the course focuses on a variety of selection tests and procedures, such as ability tests, personality inventories, interviews, application blanks, and assessment center applications. The second part covers topics associated with managing performance of individuals and teams in work organizations. 

PSY 555 Training, Development and Evaluation 6 ECTS 

This course covers the different techniques and approaches used in employee training and development, and the evaluation criteria and research designs used to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs. In this course, it is aimed that students gain competence in designing and implementing a curriculum. 

PSY 556 Leadership and Motivation 6 ECTS 

This course offers critical and in-depth examination of the theories of leadership and work motivation. Topics include work motivation concepts such as goals, incentives, expectancy, self-regulation, well-being, affect and satisfaction and leadership approaches such as trait, behavior, path-goal, leader-member exchange, transformational, authentic, adaptive, inclusive leadership with the perspective of their implications in practice. 

PSY 557 Consultation and Facilitation 6 ECTS 

This course covers tools andtechniques forbasicfacilitation of meetings, new approaches and trends in the area by using simulations and exercises, includingthe design andfacilitation ofone’s own structuredlearningactivities. Ethical and professionalvaluesandissues as theyrelate to consulting are also discussed.  

PSY 558 Group Processes and Team Interventions 6 ECTS 

Within the scope of this course, theories and research findings on team and group formations and their functioning in the context of other organizational formations are discussed. Topics related to team processes and dynamics such as team development, team cohesion, intra-team and inter-team communication and conflict are covered in the course. In addition, the scope of the various situations/scenarios related to teams and the interventions of the consultants is aimed to provide students with the experience of experiencing and organizing group and team processes. 

PSY 559 Diversity and Inclusion in Organizations 6 ECTS 

This course aims to provide students with a better understanding of identity, emotion and inequality in working life. The course covers topics such as identities in working life, emotions in the workplace, gender, change and resistance to change, and diversity management. 

PSY 561 Organizations in the 21st Century - Current Issues 6 ECTS 

This course aims to develop students' knowledge of various current issues related to business and organizations in the 21st century. The course content covers the following topics: Multi-generational work environments in organizations, business ethics and sustainability, globalization, technology, human resource management and consulting. 

PSY 562 Organizational Change and Development 6 ECTS 

In this course, organizational development, organizational diagnosis and organizational intervention are discussed in the context of organizational and individual dynamics and organizational culture. It focuses on theories, methods and findings on changing individuals and groups in the organizational culture environment and the organization itself in order to become more effective. Individual, interpersonal and group change strategies, role or task related strategies, and organizational system change strategies are examined in terms of theory, empirical research and practice. 

PSY 563 Business Ethics 6 ECTS

This course covers business ethics through theoretical approaches, (self-)critical discussions and real business cases. It is aimed to provide students with awareness of ethical issues and the ability to display an analytical approach to these issues by discussing possible dilemmas in business life. 

PSY 564 Conflict Management 6 ECTS 

This course examines the stages of constructively handling conflicts in organizational settings. Basically, organizational climate, culture and basic communication difficulties in business life conflicts and the management of these conflicts are discussed. It is aimed to develop students' skills in areas such as active listening, collaborative problem solving, negotiation and facilitating communication. 

PSY 565 Organizational Research 6 ECTS 

This course focuses on the development, implementation, data analysis and reporting of psychometrically sound institutional questionnaires for purposes such as measuring attitudes towards work, evaluating in-house training or other programs. Students are expected to experience these processes through an organizational questionnaire that they will develop themselves. 

PSY 566 Advanced Social Psychology 6 ECTS 

This course provides an advanced introduction to the field of social psychology. It is a course that examines classical theories and models in social psychology as well as current approaches and research topics. Another aim of this course is to present students with selections from the most widely used methods and practices in the field of social psychology. 

PSY 567 Attitudes, Persuation and Social Influence 6 ECTS 

The purpose of this course is to survey classic research and current practice on attitudes, persuasion, and social influence as they relate to issues in organizational settings. Topics covered include attitude formation and change, persuasion, social influence, norms, judgment and decision making, resistance to change, communication development, and personality. Throughout, applications relevant to organizational settings are presented. 

PSY 568 Leadership and Management 6 ECTS

This course teaches students the theories of leadership, the differences between leadership and management; It aims to teach different leadership characteristics and types and how they can be used in practice. Course content covers the following topics: Leadership theories, differences between leadership and management, leadership characteristics, feminine and masculine leadership, ethical leadership and conscious leadership.
