Areas of Study
Due to programs structure, the program allows specialization in one of the fields of Finance, Marketing, Management or Operations Management.
Finance: The science of Finance encompasses a great variety of subjects, including but not limited to corporate finance, investments, asset pricing, asset allocation, portfolio optimization, risk management, pricing of derivatives, and institutional funds management. The program will provide students with a profound knowledge in finance, statistics, and econometrics; introduce numerical techniques for valuation, including pricing and hedging of financial investment instruments such as futures, options, and other derivatives; illustrate the important role of optimization in portfolio management, asset allocation, and risk management; present various computational applications/methods in solving financial problems.
Marketing: Marketing scholars aim to understand, explain and predict this process by creating and developing frameworks that yield new insights, quantifying the effectiveness of marketing strategies and tactics, revealing the driving forces behind buyer and supplier behaviour. The Marketing discipline acknowledges several orientations: quantitative, behavioral and managerial. These orientations have their roots in the basic disciplines of economics, psychology, sociology and other social sciences.
Management: Management specialization is designed for students who wish to become strategic, data-driven industry specialists and enhance their research expertise in the areas of strategic management, organizational theory, individual and organizational behaviour, leadership and human resources. The curriculum focuses on developing knowledge about current management theories and introducing the tools and methods used to conduct advanced research in an organizational setting.
Operations Management: Operations Management discipline draws upon two main research methodologies: Mathematical modeling and empirical research. These methodologies have their roots in operations research, economics, and social sciences. Operations Management addresses strategic issues such as product and process design and improvement, facility location, manufacturing or service capacity determination, supplier selection, supply chain design and coordination, quality systems design; tactical issues such as inventory management, supply and demand matching, quality planning; and operational issues such as manufacturing and service activities scheduling, production monitoring and control, quality control.
