Özyeğin University Athletic Scholarships

In line with its educational philosophy of supporting both academic excellence and athletic achievement, Özyeğin University offers the Athletic Excellence Scholarship to outstanding student-athletes who have the potential to represent the University successfully at national and international levels.

Athletic Excellence Scholarship applications are evaluated based on the applicant's athletic achievements, academic performance, the needs of the University's sports teams, and the scholarship quota allocated for the relevant academic year.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications for the Özyeğin University Athletic Excellence Scholarship will be considered if applicants meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Have represented their country as a national team athlete in the relevant sport within the last two years.
• Have achieved a ranking or placed in individual or team categories at Turkish Championships or official national competitions organized by the relevant sports federation.
• Be a licensed and active athlete competing in national or regional leagues affiliated with the relevant sports federation.
• Demonstrate a performance level that would enable them to contribute to Özyeğin University's varsity teams in the sports in which the University competes.
• Possess the athletic ability to represent Özyeğin University in competitions organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation and in national or international university sports events.

Evaluation Process

Applications for the Athletic Excellence Scholarship are evaluated by the Sports Center based on:

• Athletic achievements,
• Performance during a tryout (where applicable),
• The University's sports branches and team requirements,
• Scholarship quotas allocated for the relevant academic year.

The final scholarship decisions are made upon approval by the University's senior administration.

Important Note: Meeting the application requirements does not automatically entitle an applicant to receive an Athletic Excellence Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on the evaluation results, the University's team needs, the scholarship quota for the relevant academic year, and the approval of the senior administration.

Online Application for the Özyeğin University Athletic Excellence Scholarship

Applications for the Özyeğin University Athletic Excellence Scholarship must be submitted through the online application system.

To complete the application successfully, applicants are required to follow the steps below:

1. Complete the Online Athletic Excellence Scholarship Application Form in full.
2. Upload all required application documents. Applicants are also encouraged to upload any additional recommendation letters or certificates that support their application.
3. If a tryout is scheduled by the Sports Center for the relevant sport, attend the scheduled tryout.
4. Ensure that the online application is completed in its entirety for the application to be considered.
5. Attend the scheduled tryout if one is required for the selected sport.

Applicants who are awarded the Athletic Excellence Scholarship will be eligible to receive the scholarship only if they are admitted through the first placement of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) to one of Özyeğin University's undergraduate programs under either the full-tuition (non-scholarship) or partial scholarship quotas, and if Özyeğin University is listed within their top three (3) preferences.

Important Notes

1. Applicants who do not submit or complete the online application will not be considered for scholarship evaluation.
2. Incomplete applications or failure to attend a scheduled tryout will result in the application not being evaluated.
3. Application results will be communicated to applicants via email.

Required Application Documents

The 2026 application period will begin on July 1.

*Documents to Upload:

1. Athletic Resume and Summary of Athletic Achievements (Must be prepared by the applicant).*
2. Letter of Reference from the Sports Club*
3. Letter of Reference from the Coach*
4. National Team Certificate (if applicable, issued by the relevant sports federation). 
5. Current Athlete License (the most recent validated/endorsed athlete license). 

Additional Notes
1.    Once the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) results are announced, applicants must email a copy of their examination results to sportive@ozu.edu.tr. 
2.    If certain required documents cannot be obtained at the time of application, applicants may upload an explanatory note through the online system. However, all missing documents must be submitted within the deadline specified by the Sports Center in order for the evaluation process to be completed.
