Özyeğin University Athletic Scholarships

Özyeğin University recognizes the athletic achievements of outstanding athletes in Turkey with its “Athletic Achievement Scholarships”. The athletic achievement scholarships are awarded to prospective undergraduate students in proportion to their academic and athletic achievements.

Application Requirements for Özyeğin University Athletic Scholarships

1. In the last two years, to have served as a national athlete, either individually or as a member of the national team, in an Olympic/a popular sport / to have placed in the top three in national championships, either individually or as a member of a team, / to have served as an active athlete in either national or local leagues.
2. Applications are invited online as of July. Prior to applications, applicants may consult the Athletic Center at Özyeğin University for more information. Application results are announced, and applicants are notified of the result of their applications at least two days before the submission of “Higher Education Institutions Examination” (YSK) preferences.
3. Required application documents are listed below. Application requirements also apply to international students. However, international students must obtain the listed documents from their home countries.

To Apply Online for the Özyeğin University Athletic Scholarships:

1. Fill out the Athletic Scholarship Online Application Form below.
2. Scan and upload the five required application documents*, and other reference documents you wish to add, if any.
3. Among the required application documents, if there are any you are unable to obtain, please specify in the comments section that you will present these documents in person / upload these documents later, and scan and upload the documents you currently have. (Otherwise, your online form will not be sent for approval.)
4. Sports scholarship online application system closed on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 17:00.

*Documents to Upload:

1. Athletic Scholarship Application Form,
2. Athletic Resume and List of Athletic Achievements,
3. Letter of Reference from the Athletic Club
4. Letter of Reference from the Athletic Trainer,
5. National Athlete Certificate Issued By the Federation,
6. A copy of the athlete license
7. YKS exam result dokuments will be required 
   • Candidates applying for Özyeğin University Sports Scholarship are required to submit their exam results certificate by mail to sportive@ozu.edu.tr when the YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam) result is announced.
8. The following branches will have try-out and once the online application is completed, the candidate must participate in a trial workout for the submitted branch. Candidates who do not participate in the trial workout will not be considered.
   • The Try-out will be conducted only for the branches mentioned below, and other majors will be evaluated through the documents the candidate uploaded to the system.

Foundation Universities National Athlete Scholarship - Application deadline has expired

Ministry of Youth and Sports National Athlete Scholarship Agreement

Pursuant to the agreement made with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a full tuition waiver will be granted to 15 national athletes who will be admitted to our university through the 2023 Higher Education Exam (YKS) via the no-scholarship or partial scholarship quotas, provided that they have been successful in the sports branches specified below within the last 4 years. This scholarship does not cover any additional fees specific to the program (such as knife sets, uniforms, flights, etc.).

Relevant sports branches: Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Football, Swimming, Water Polo, Fencing, Triathlon, Taekwondo, Karate, Skiing and Snowboarding, Sailing, Table Tennis, Tennis, Rowing

Candidates must follow the steps below to apply for the scholarship:

• Follow the application steps listed on the National Athlete Scholarship page and apply to the federation presidency,

• If your application to the Federation Presidency is approved, obtain your official document and national athlete certificate that will be issued in your name,

• Apply for the Özyeğin University National Athlete Scholarship within the preference period with the relevant documents and obtain the letter of confirmation which verifies that you are included in the 15-person National Athlete Scholarship quota.

Once students receive approval for their scholarships from the Athletic Center, their scholarships will be checked and awarded by Student Services upon their admission to OzU. These students do not need to submit a separate application for their scholarship assignment.
