Academic Integrity

Copying all or a part of articles, books, magazines, newspapers, and web sites written or created by others without giving reference to and acknowledging the author, the person or the organization who owns the intellectual property is one of the offenses known as academic fraud or plagiarism. Academic fraud is taken extremely seriously by Özyeğin University. The following are behaviors that violate academic honesty:

• Copying another student's assignment
• Copying or summarizing another person’s work without giving them credit
• Copying someone else’s ideas without giving them credit

For some causes, the faculty may request students to submit their assignments by using Turnitin which is an academic honesty control program. Turnitin checks the contents of assignments with a wide range of electronic information resources including the Internet to ensure assignments comply with the principles of academic integrity and reports the results of comparison.

Academic and library staff will assist you with the preparation of your assignments, exams and projects to ensure they are done in accordance with the principles of academic honesty.
