Program Evaluation

Program Evaluation

  1. The Quality Commission determines the programs to be evaluated during the year and communicates them to the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC).
  2. The PEC specifies the dates when program evaluations will be conducted and designates the teams responsible for program evaluation. These teams are made up of 2 faculty members, 1 staff member from the AQA Office, and 1 student representative. Serving on a program evaluation team is voluntary and is considered an important internal service. Preference is given to faculty members on the program evaluation team who have previously been involved in accredited programs.
  3. The department to which the program belongs prepares the Program Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and submits it to the PEC. The PEC shares the SARs with the evaluation team.
  4. The evaluation team reviews the report and fills out the Preliminary Assessment section of the Evaluation Schedule document in accordance with the Program Evaluation Criteria. The evaluation team conducts an evaluation visit to the department and completes the Visit Evaluation section of the Evaluation Schedule document, preparing the Program Evaluation Report (PER). The report is then presented to the PEC.
  5. After conducting a consistency check of the PERs, if any necessary corrections are identified, the PEC informs the Evaluation Team. After the Evaluation Team makes the necessary corrections to the report, the final version of the PER is shared with the Quality Commission and the academic unit head to which the program is affiliated (Dean/Director).
  6. If inadequacies are identified in the report, the program is expected to address these within a specified time frame. The monitoring of this process is carried out by the Program Evaluation Committee. For the deficiencies indicated in the PER, a re-evaluation is conducted 1 year later, and for weaknesses, a re-evaluation is conducted 2 years later.
