We Commemorated Atatürk the Great Leader with A Series of Events

In observance of the 82nd anniversary of his passing, we commemorated Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with a series of events organized by our Faculty of Law in his memory. The commemorative event series started on November 9 with the conference “Atatürk and Sumerians” by Ms. Muazzez İlmiye Çığ, retired sumerologist. On November 10, we hosted the online conferences “What To Understand from Atatürkist Thought” by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Yaşar Gürbüz, and “What to Do for a Democratic Turkey” by Mr. Kaya Erdem, former Ministry of Finance.

The opening address of the conference “What to Do for a Democratic Turkey” was delivered by our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk. In her addres, Prof. Gençtürk said: “In the 82nd anniversary of his passing, we came together to commemorate Atatürk with a series of events organized by our Faculty of Law in his memory. I would like to thank everyone who took the lead to organize these commemorative events. I wish all participants fruitful sessions that encourage them to think and offer them different perspectives. I would like to thank Mr. Kaya Ertem for taking time to attend our event and honoring us with his presence on this special day. His support is invaluable to us.” Özyeğin University students showed a keen interest in the event series.
