Our Students Receive the “Best Starter” Award and “First Prize” During the “Chefs of the Future” Challenge

Özyeğin University students received two distinguished awards during the Chefs of the Future challenge held as part of the Out-Of-Home Consumption Goods and Suppliers event.

The challenge took place on September 23, 2017 with the attendance of six universities. In addition to Rudolf Van Nunen who chaired the panel of judges, the challenge also featured leading chefs who served as judges and moderators. Keri Erikman (senior), Korhan Kızıltan (junior), Ari Konfino (junior), Berk Onuk (junior) and Zeynep Özgüler (sophomore), the Undergraduate Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Program students of the School of Applied Sciences at Özyeğin University, won the “Best Starter” award and “First Prize” in the Spice-themed competition.

“I congratulate all the university students who attended the “Chefs of the Future” challenge organized as part of the “Out-of-Home Consumption Goods and Suppliers” event on their courage and performance,” remarked Mr. M. Teoman Alemdar, Director of the School of Applied Sciences. “I believe that an education which blends knowledge with experience is one of the fundamental pillars of a successful career in professional life. I have no doubt that this new generation of university-graduate chefs who feed on creativity will swiftly climb the success ladder in the business world. I recommend that they work on their foreign language skills and international cuisines as they will need to prove themselves not only in Turkey but also in the international arena. I am also confident that Le Cordon Bleu International’s continuous support for the food production courses offered both in the Undergraduate Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Program and the Undergraduate Hotel Management Program at Özyeğin University as well as Le Cordon Bleu Certificate Programs, which have awarded more than 800 certifications so far, will also make significant contributions to the business world.”
