Sixth Term Graduates of the Data Science Certificate Program Co-Run by Özyeğin University and ING Receive Their Certificates

The sixth term graduates of the Data Science Certificate Program co-run by Özyeğin University and ING Turkey since 2018 received their certificates during an online ceremony. The opening addresses were delivered by our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk, Alper Gökgöz, General Manager at ING Turkey, and Prof. Dr. Taylan Akdoğan, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. In the sixth term, 16 participants graduated, bringing the total of graduates to 117 this year. Expressing her happiness for undertaking such an exemplary project that serves as a role model for university-industry cooperation, Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk continued her opening address as follows: "Our online graduation ceremony for ING has a special place in our hearts. Since the day we launched our program in 2018, it has maintained its continuity despite the changing priorities and needs, which is a great source of pride for us. It is a very meaningful and specialty project brought to life with the collective efforts of university on one side and the private sector on the other side, despite the ever-changing tempo and dynamics. Its consistency over the years in spite of all these changes and the ongoing pandemic is what makes this project stand out as a great example for our institutions, for Turkey, and for the wider world. We owe this success to our collective efforts and the unity of our hearts and minds. It is highly pleasing that this project has been going on for so many years. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Alper and the entire ING team for finding a companion like ING whose vision, philosophy of life, and way of doing business overlap so well with ours, and for standing by each other."

Still relatively young among foundation universities, Özyeğin University has always placed a special emphasis on educating “students that make a difference” in line with its both innovative and entrepreneurial education philosophy and research-centric identity.
