Prof. Murat Uysal and Dr. Mohammed Elamassie Honored by IEEE Turkey

Prof. Dr. Murat Uysal, Head of the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering, has been honored with the “IEEE Turkey Distinguished Service Award 2021”. This annual award program recognizes sustained volunteer service activities to IEEE Turkey activities and programs. Prof. Dr. Uysal received this award for his long lasting contributions to the institutionalization of IEEE Turkey for which he served as the Chair during 2015-2019.

During the award ceremony which took place at Bilkent University in December 2021, Dr. Mohammed Elamassie from Ozyegin University has also been awarded the “PhD Thesis Award”. Dr. Elamassie completed his Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Murat Uysal in 2020. This award is given to outstanding young scientists who have completed their PhDs in a university in Turkey within the last two years in one of the areas of activity of IEEE.

The IEEE is a non-profit international association advancing innovation and technological excellence in the field of electrical and electronics engineering. Today, there are over 400,000 IEEE members in more than 160 countries, with the IEEE Turkey Section boasting around 2,000 members in Turkey.
