2018 Information and Recruiting Period Ends

Dear Colleagues;

The 2018 Information and Recruiting period will officially conclude tonight with candidates submitting their preference list to OSYM by 11:59 pm.  Until then, our call center as well as our recruiting team and I will continue to answer questions via e-mail and our social media accounts.

In terms of summary statistics; as of 6:00pm today, our Call Center received close to 8.000 calls and we hosted 2.560 individual candidates (excluding family members accompanying them) on campus.  This is lower than our record breaking 3.011 visitors of last year.  On the positive side, this difference can be attributed to the increasing reputation of OzU along with more focused recruitment events our academic programs organize and participate in throughout the academic year.  On the potentially negative side, this year’s lower visitor numbers may be a reflection of the current economic crisis, redirecting candidates towards state universities as a safer alternative.   A further source of unpredictability this year has been the changes made to the university entrance exam questions as well as score types.  At least with respect to the latter two considerations, it becomes difficult to make sound predictions about success rankings and placement ratios for this year’s intake.  

Alongside these multiple sources of uncertainty experienced during this year’s Information and Recruiting Days, three different university rankings published in August made OzU community especially proud.  In case you missed the related announcements, they are:

1. TUMA (Turkish University Satisfaction Survey) report once again ranked OzU first in overall student satisfaction among both state and foundation universities. 2. According to Calibre Career and Talent Management Association's 2018 Survey of Employment Index Research, OzU is named the leading institution in the "Graduates with Fastest Rate of Employment" ranking. (http://calibre.kyyd.org.tr/EniyiUniversiteler.aspx

As we get ready to return to our normal academic and administrative routine, I extend my sincere thanks to each and every member of OzU community who took part in this year’s Information and Recruiting Days, fulfilling their respective roles with utmost diligence.
