2018-2019 Fall Semester 2. Dormitory Application

Dear Students,

You may complete your 2nd dormitory applications for the 2018-2019 Fall semester from Friday, September 21, 2017, 10 am to Tuesday, September 25, 2017, 5 pm.

Application Period:

There are two different systems in dormitory applications: Annual Registration and Semester Registration. You may complete your dormitory applications, choosing your preferred system.

Annual Registration System:

Provides priority to in room assignments, and increases your chances of being placed in the room of your choice,

Provides warranty to stay in the same room throughout the year, without the need to submit a new dormitory application for the Spring semester at the end of the Fall semester, 

Increases your chances of staying with the  roommate(s) of your choice in the same room.

Semester Registration System:

Students who choose the Semester Registration option will be assigned a room after students who choose the Annual Registration option are assigned theirs. Residents who choose the Semester Registration option must check out of their rooms at the end of the Fall semester. These students must submit a new application via SIS in order to stay in the dormitories during the Spring semester.

 Application Results and Payments

You may check the result of your dormitory applications via SIS on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. To check your dormitory application results, please log into the SIS and click on the Dormitory Procedures >> Dormitory Application Results tabs.

If your dormitory application is accepted and you are assigned a room, you must prepare the required documents and submit them to the Dormitory Management Office. Once you submit your documents, you may check in your room starting from Wednesday, September 26, 2018, 9 am.

Failure to make the housing fees until the due date will result in cancellation of the room assignmentStudents whose room assignments are cancelled may submit new applications together with the Newly Admitted Students. The Annual Registration fees paid by these students during the Registration Period will be counted towards their second dormitory applications. Therefore, these students will not need to pay the annual registration fees again.

Please note that room cancellations made after the due date, Wednesday, September 19, 2018,  are non-refundable. 

Room Assignment Priorities:

Room assignments during the application period will be made based on the following address (MERNIS) priorities:

  1. Students with Housing Scholarship(Priority is given to scholarship recipients who choose the room type granted by their housing scholarships.)
  2. International Students 
  3. Newly Admitted Students From Outside Istanbul Who Chose Annual Registration   
  4.  Newly Admitted Students From Outside Istanbul Who Chose Semester Registration      
  5. Current Students From Outside Istanbul Who Chose Annual Registration
  6. Current Students From Outside Istanbul Who Chose Semester Registration      
  7. Newly Admitted Students From Istanbul Who Chose Annual Registration     
  8.  Newly Admitted Students From Istanbul Who Chose Semester Registration      
  9. Current Students From Istanbul Who Chose Annual Registration**

**The order of MERNIS priority for room assignments for students from Istanbul is as follows:

  1. Precinct:Arnavutköy, Beylikdüzü, Büyükçekmece, Çatalca, Esenyurt, Silivri
  2. Precinct:Islands, Avcılar, Başakşehir, Küçükçekmece, Pendik, Tuzla
  3. Precinct: Bağcılar, Bahçelievler, Bakırköy, Beykoz, Esenler, Gaziosmanpaşa, Güngören, Kartal, Sultanbeyli, Sultangazi, Zeytinburnu
  4. Precinct: Bayrampaşa, Beyoğlu, Eyüp, Fatih, Maltepe, Sarıyer, Şişli
  5. Precinct: Beşiktaş, Kadıköy, Kağıthane, Üsküdar 
  6. Precinct: Ataşehir, Çekmeköy, Sancaktepe, Şile, Ümraniye

Students whose precincts are the same will be ranked among themselves based on the following order of priority:

  1. Year of Admission (from oldest to newest)
  2. Scholarship Status (Priority is given to scholarship recipients who choose the room type granted by their housing scholarships. If the scholarship recipient chooses another room type, priority will be given to      students without housing scholarship.)
  3. Date and Time of Application (from earliest to latest)
  4. Roommate Preference

 Important Notes for Recipients of Housing Scholarship:

Regardless of whether or not they have retained their scholarships during the academic year, all students who were granted housing scholarship will be considered “Scholarship Recipients” during the Applications, and will be able to benefit from priority given to students with housing scholarships.

However, recipients of housing scholarships are advised to choose the room type granted by their housing scholarships in order to make sure they are assigned a room. Otherwise, receiving a room assignment is not guaranteed.

In a case where a scholarship recipient is assigned another room type which falls outside the scope of his/her housing scholarship as a result of the order of priority, the student’s housing scholarship amount will be deducted from the total housing fees the student needs to pay, and the remaining amount will be charged to the student.

In a case where the student’s housing scholarship is cancelled after s/he is assigned a room, the difference will be charged to the student.

Recipients of housing scholarship are not required to pay the Annual Registration fee as they are already considered the Annual Registration (“Annual”) residents. However, these students must pay a security deposit (500 TL).

Students who will stay in the dormitories in the 2018-2019 academic year are required to submit physician-approved medical reports which explicitly state that they are found medically fit to stay in the residence halls (issued either by public or private health institutions).
