The "Approach 2030 Program" event, "Greenhack," was launched on World Environment Day to raise awareness of the dry streams in cities.

Özyeğin University's Approach 2030 Program opens up a discussion on the effects of intense urbanization on ecosystems through the dry stream on campus. Communication, design, and art projects created by students to draw attention to the stream were presented to the public at the "Greenhack" launch event held on World Environment Day.

Özyeğin University continues to encourage students to take an active role by offering innovative ways to combine academic and practical knowledge. The Approach 2030 Program, which has been running since 2018 within the University's Sustainability Platform, centers on collaborative research and learning by approaching global issues from a scientific and artistic perspective. In this way, each student discovers how to use their knowledge and skills to build a sustainable future. Aimed at developing students' critical perspective, sensitivity, and sense of responsibility towards global issues, the program focuses this year on the dry stream on campus. Through projects produced across different departments, courses, and workshops, the university examines the current state and future prospects of freshwater resources, and the possibilities for reforestation, from an interdisciplinary perspective.

As part of a studio course led by Faculty of Architecture and Design lecturer Yasemin Yıldırım, students used the power of art and design to convey to a wider audience the importance of water resources. Following the course of the campus stream, students listened to the unheard sounds of the stream; explored the natural landscape; and, inspired by the research process and the synergy of collective work, developed creative communication solutions, art, and design projects. Twelve students, working collectively under the name "Codlective," produced their projects in Özyeğin University laboratories. These creative works, born from the studio course, were placed at designated points along the stream's route. The exhibition "By the Side of a Stream," showcasing the students' work, will be open at the Özyeğin University Pavilion Building until October 14, 2024.
