Yasemin Yıldırım's research interests are interaction design, natural user interfaces for virtual and augmented reality design, design education, interactive environment design for distance education.
Yasemin Yıldırım received her bachelor's degree in Communication Design from Yıldız Technical University, Faculty of Art and Design, where she researched the use of a textile material as an interaction tool and it’s role in interpersonal social communication and developed a desktop game prototype. During her undergraduate education, she made a pause to her education for a while and lived in New York and studied traditional animation and visual effects design at the SVA School of Visual Arts. After her graduation, she worked as an art director and user interface designer in digital design agencies and also took part in various domestic and foreign art and design projects. In addition, she also organized design workshops for elementary, highschool and university students in various institutions such as Istanbul Modern, Yıldız Technical University and Özyeğin University.
She obtained her Master of Science degree in 2018 with her thesis titled “Exploring the significance of collaboration in the early design stages of interactive kiosks” with the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Simge Esin Orhun. From this research Yıldırım and her thesis supervisor presented and published one national and one international (scopus indexed) conference papers. Yasemin Yıldırım continues her PhD in the same department.
Yasemin Yıldırım still works as a Research Assistant in the Department of Communication Design. In addition to research studies, she works as a teaching assistant in design studio courses and supports VR Lab's training activities.
Yasemin Yıldırım also holds a TÜBITAK 1001 PhD Scholarship and supports the design research and prototyping processes of a SOBAG Project (120K685) have been carried out within the scope of “COVID-19 and Society: Social, Human and Economic Effects of the Pandemic, Problems and Call for Solution”.
