OzU English Language Support Center

There are three centers working under the Support Center: Study Center, Speaking Center and Writing Center. While the Writing Center provides support only to students who are in their departments, the other two centers aim to support and guide all students registered in the Preparatory Program and departments with their English skills outside class hours. In order to improve themselves in the areas they need (reading, listening, writing, speaking, grammar, vocabulary and study skills), students make appointments and meet with the instructors working in these centers through the existing appointment system. Instructors not only help students in areas where they are weak or which they want to improve, but also provide the necessary support to help students discover their weak areas and how they should study to improve them.

OzU Writing Center

The ÖzU Writing Center was established within the School of Foreign Languages during the Fall Semester of the 2013–2014 Academic Year and currently operates from Office G12-I, located on the ground floor of the Central Library. The Center provides face-to-face support to undergraduate students and, where resources permit, to graduate and doctoral students in the following areas:

• Developing English academic writing skills, including essays, academic research papers/articles, projects, reports, and other types of academic writing, as well as citation, referencing, paraphrasing, and related skills;
• Providing feedback and recommendations on academic writing assignments, research papers, projects, and similar written work assigned in students’ respective departments;
• Reviewing letters written for overseas internship, employment, and educational applications, and providing guidance, where necessary, on matters such as format, word choice, and grammatical accuracy;
• Organizing presentations and workshops, according to a specific program during the academic term and in response to requests from academic departments, focusing on academic writing skills that students commonly find challenging.

How to Make an Appointment

Students who wish to receive support from the Writing Center can visit the Writing Center’s LMS page and make an appointment with a writing consultant by selecting a time slot that is convenient for them.
