The ScOLa (School of Languages) building at Özyeğin University (“OzU ScOLa) is recognized as an exemplary building for its innovative and integrated energy management. OzU ScOLa was built as a demonstration building in Istanbul, Turkey as part of NEED4B: New Energy Efficient Demonstration for Buildings Project co-financed by the European Union under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) and undertaken by the Center for Energy, Environment and Economy (CEEE) at Özyeğin University.
The ScOLa building spans 17,715 sqm of gross area on Çekmeköy Campus of Özyeğin University. Since 2013, the building has been serving as the School of Languages, catering to around 1,450 students, 125 tutors and 10 managers.
The ScOLa building takes pride in being one of the most energy efficient and sustainable buildings in Turkey with its automation and lighting systems designed to offer 65 percent efficiency through use of transparent and opaque surfaces, its natural ventilation system, and the integration of renewable energy resources.
