Individual Advising

360 Advising Unit organizes individual and group meetings for the academic, social and personal development of students. Integrative Advising method is used for our sessions. Individual sessions are conducted in 4 categories;

R1: 360 Advising Unit Activity within the Scope of SEC 101 Course

1. 360 Advising Unit Activity

One of the compulsory activities within the scope of SEC 101 Introduction to University Life course is the 360 Advising Unit activity. Students who need to complete this requirement can join the activity by making an appointment with the 360 Advising Unit.

In individual sessions, students are provided with information on academic requirements, regulations, university units and resources; sessions usually last between 20-60 minutes.

2. Group Meetings

Another way to complete the SEC 101 360 Advising Unit Activity is to attend group presentations that are regularly posted on the LMS each week. Just like in individual sessions, in group presentations, students are introduced to academic requirements, regulations and units at the university. In addition, the purpose and methods of the 360 Advising Unit are introduced in both individual interviews and group presentations.

R2: Advising for Students who have a GPA < 2.00

At the beginning of each semester, students with a GPA < 2.00 are detected and invited to meet with our unit. Participation in the interviews is on a voluntary basis. During the session, the student's work habits, social adaptation process and future goals are evaluated. The student is referred to relevant units and people for other needs.

R3: Advising for Students who have a GPA = 0.00

As in the R2 category, students with a GPA = 0.00 are detected at the beginning of each semester and are invited to the unit. Participation in the interviews is on a voluntary basis. In the sessions for this category, the reasons for the low GPA of the student and the adaptation process to life on campus are evaluated, and information is provided on graduation obligations. In addition, it is evaluated whether students have mental and physical problems that may affect their academic process, and if there is, they are directed to the relevant units.

R4: Session for Students Who Requests Individual Advising

Students who fall outside the R1, R2 and R3 category criteria mentioned above can also apply to our unit. In line with students' requests; they can get support in terms of setting goals for the future, increasing their time management skills or social adjustment process in their academic journeys. In case of need, information support on university life and regulations is also provided.

Workshops

During the academic year, workshops are organized to meet the needs of students and it is aimed to develop students' self-control skills. You can follow the announcements about the workshop content and dates from the MyOzU app or website.
