About Us

The purpose of the Disabled Student Unit is to facilitate the campus life of students with disabilities through activities based on the principle of equal opportunity in education. We aim to plan physical and administrative accommodations that support their learning and to provide socio-cultural support to our students.

This unit supports the psychological, academic, and social development of students with disabilities by establishing qualified communication with every student studying at Özyeğin University who needs special support, working in close collaboration with faculties and administrative units.

Our Support and Services:

• Academic Information and Accommodations: At the beginning of each semester, with the knowledge and consent of the students with disabilities, an informative e-mail detailing the student's situation and needs is sent to the academics of the courses they are enrolled in. In this context, necessary arrangements are made to select or adapt course and exam environments according to the specific disability.

• Accessible Material Support: The Disabled Student Unit ensures that course materials are converted into accessible formats with the assistance of part-time working students in the academic field.

• Psychological and Social Support: We provide individual psychological counseling to help students cope with relational, academic, and social challenges they may encounter during their university life. Additionally, we organize preventive, protective, and remedial workshops.

• Awareness Initiatives: The Disabled Student Unit carries out activities to increase disability awareness among all Özyeğin University students. Through accessible projects, we support the development of social sensitivity and a sense of responsibility across the entire student body.
