Early Bird Application

  • What is Early Bird Application?
    Early Bird Application is an application system created for our current students to book their rooms at OzU dormitories in advance for the subsequent academic year (2019-2010). Thus, our current students whose year of admission is earlier may benefit from priority room selection through Early Bird Application.
  • When and how can I submit my Early Bird Dormitory Application?
    Early Bird Applications are invited via SIS >> Dormitory Procedures >> Dormitory Application Form from Monday, May 13, 2019, 16:00 am through Friday, June 21, 2019, 17:00pm. For applications to be considered, the security deposit and the down payment must be paid before June 21, 2019, 17:00 pm. (Former residents who stayed at the OzU dormitories in the previous semesters are not required to make the security deposit payment if they did not claim their security deposits back.) Failure to pay the security deposit and/or down payment before the due date will render dormitory applications null and void.
  • What is the order of priority in Early Bird Applications?
    Room assignments will be made based on the following address (MERNIS) priorities:

    1. International Students
    2. Students From Outside Istanbul
    3. Students From Istanbul*

    *The order of MERNIS priority for room assignments for students from Istanbul is as follows:

    1. Precinct: Arnavutköy, Beylikdüzü, Büyükçekmece, Çatalca, Esenyurt, Silivri
    2. Precinct: Islands, Avcılar, Başakşehir, Küçükçekmece, Pendik, Tuzla
    3. Precinct: Bağcılar, Bahçelievler, Bakırköy, Beykoz, Esenler, Gaziosmanpaşa, Güngören, Kartal, Sultanbeyli, Sultangazi, Zeytinburnu
    4. Precinct: Bayrampaşa, Beyoğlu, Eyüp, Fatih, Maltepe, Sarıyer, Şişli
    5. Precinct: Beşiktaş, Kadıköy, Kağıthane, Üsküdar
    6. Precinct: Ataşehir, Çekmeköy, Sancaktepe, Şile, Ümraniye

    Students whose precincts are the same will be ranked among themselves based on the following order of priority:

    1. Year of Admission (from earliest to latest)
    2. Scholarship Status (Priority is given to scholarship recipients who choose the room type granted by their housing scholarships. If the scholarship recipient chooses another room type, priority will be given to students without housing scholarship.)
    3. Date and Time of Application (from earliest to latest)
    4. Roommate Preference*

    *Students who have denoted each other as their preferred roommates are assigned to the same room based on available capacity, provided that they are both assigned to the same room type.

  • What are the type of rooms I can select during my application?

  • What is a down payment? Do I have to pay it?
    The down payment is an initial upfront payment made during the dormitory application for your application to be considered. This amount will be deducted from your annual housing fees, and the remaining amount will then be charged equally in the fall and spring semesters. Excluding housing scholarship recipients, all students must pay the down payment to be eligible to apply for the dormitories..
  • Can I get a refund for the down payment later?
    Should you cancel your room assignment between the last day for applications and September 15, you can get a refund for the down payment you made, with a deduction of 10 percent of your annual housing fees. In a case in which you are not assigned a room after your dormitory application, you may contact yurt@ozyegin.edu.tr for a refund for your down payment.
  • I would like to cancel my room assignment. What should I do? How much will I be refunded?
    If you would like to cancel the room assigned to you, please send an email to yurt@ozyegin.edu.tr to cancel your room assignment. The Dormitory Directives stipulates that:

    “The cancellation fee for students who move out before September 15 is 10% of the annual housing fees specified in the service agreement, while students who move out on or after September 15 are charged all of the housing fees relating to their months of stay at the dormitory, including the current month, plus the 30% of the remaining months’ housing fees.   • I applied for the dormitories, but I want to cancel my dormitory application. What should I do? Can I get a refund?
    If you would like to cancel your application during the Early Bird Application Period, please go to SIS >> Dormitory Procedures >> Dormitory Application Form and click on the “Cancel My Application” button. Provided that you cancel your application during the early bird application period, you may contact yurt@ozyegin.edu.tr for a refund for your down payment.
  • Where may I see the dormitory application results?
    The results of early bird dormitory applications will be announced via SIS on June 26, 2019, at noon. To check your dormitory application results, please log into the SIS, and click on the Dormitory Procedures >> Dormitory Application Results tabs.
  • I have been assigned a room. When and how can I make the payment?
    Once you are assigned a room, you can make your housing fees from June 26, 2019 to July 12, 2019 either by credit card via SIS >> Financial Information >> Secure Payment or at a Fibabank branch with your student number. The amount of housing fees you need to pay is determined based on the type of room assigned to you.
  • What happens if I cannot pay the housing fees on time?
    Failure to make the housing fees before July 12, 2019 will result in cancellation of the room assignment. Students whose room assignments are cancelled due to failure to pay the housing fees on time may submit a new dormitory application in the subsequent dormitory application period.   • Do I have to make an annual application? What are the terms and conditions for semester applications?
    As per the Dormitory Directives, all dormitory applications will be accepted as annual applications, covering both the fall and spring semesters. Semester applications will be accepted for academic reasons only. Students who will not be able to stay in the dormitories in the spring semester due to academic reasons (i.e. Professional Flight, Erasmus) must submit a petition to yurt@ozyegin.edu.tr. In their petition, students must explain the reason why they are not able to stay in the dormitories in the spring semester, and attach the necessary documents. Students whose petitions are accepted will be eligible to complete semester registration for the dormitories.
  • I am a housing scholarship recipient. Do I need to make the down payment or pay the security deposit?
    Housing scholarship recipients may submit their early bird application without making any down payment. Housing scholarship recipients who are assigned to the room type granted by their housing scholarships are exempt from housing fees. Students assigned to any other room type than the one granted by their housing scholarships must pay the difference between the housing fees of the room assigned and the room granted by the scholarship.   • If my scholarship were to be terminated, would I need to make a payment?
    All of our housing scholarship recipients will be assigned rooms based on their scholarship privileges in the spring semester. Students whose scholarships are terminated in the 2019-2020 academic year are required to pay all of the housing fees of their rooms.
  • If I do not stay in the dormitories in the spring semester, may I claim the down payment back?
    The down payment is a portion of the housing fees, and not a separate payment. Therefore, refunds for the down payment are calculated as follows:

    “Students who move out from the dormitories on or after September 15 are charged all of the housing fees relating to their months of stay at the dormitory, including the current month, plus the 30% of the remaining months’ housing fees. The remaining amount is refunded to the student.” For more information about refunds, please see our Dormitory Directives.

  • I did not like the room type to which I am I assigned. May I request a room change or submit a new application?
    Since you are already assigned a room, you are not eligible to submit a new application in the following application period for the fall semester. However, you may request a room change via yurt@ozyegin.edu.tr starting from October 7, 2019. Room change requests will be satisfied based on available capacity.
