Biography

Dr. Uğurlar’s recent research focuses on social decision-making and self. One of her main lines of research is the organization of self and others in mind and their consequences on decision-making. The other line of research primarily concerns interpersonal and intergroup trust and cooperation. The studies here investigate factors that shape interpersonal cooperation and trust decisions and the consequences of being trusted/distrusted. Dr. Uğurlar carried out her doctoral research at the Middle East Technical University and the Social Cognition Center Cologne (the University of Cologne), followed by a position as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Cologne. So far, she has visited several other research institutions, including but not limited to Max Planck Institute for Human Development and IDC Herzliya. She has been awarded several research grants and fellowships from the Center for Social and Economic Behavior, the University of Cologne, and The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). Her early doctoral research has received an honorable mention from the European Social Cognition Network (ESCON).
