Our Services

As the Guidance and Advising Unit, we support students in adapting to university life, managing their academic processes more effectively, and making the most of their university experience. Guided by a preventive approach, we help students recognize their needs at an early stage, discover their strengths, and develop their own strategies for addressing challenges.

We offer our services through individual advising sessions, group information sessions, and referrals based on students’ needs.

1- Individual Sessions

We conduct individual advising sessions to support students’ academic, personal, and social development. During these sessions, we help students understand their needs, set goals, evaluate their options, and develop solution-oriented approaches.

Key topics addressed in individual advising sessions include:

• Adapting to University Life: Understanding university culture, academic expectations, responsibilities, and campus resources.

• Academic Planning and Time Management: Planning course loads, developing effective study habits, and evaluating academic opportunities in line with students’ goals, priorities, and current circumstances.

• Decision-Making and Goal Setting: Making informed decisions about academic options and evaluating short- and long-term goals.

• Motivation and Self-Management: Managing responsibilities and developing sustainable study routines.

• Self-Awareness and Personal Development: Discovering strengths, interests, and areas for development, and adapting to changes in university life.

• Social Integration and Campus Engagement: Building connections within the university community, exploring student clubs and social events, and making use of campus resources.

Sessions can be held in person or online, depending on students’ needs. Follow-up sessions may be arranged when necessary to review progress, evaluate agreed-upon steps, and address emerging needs.

2- Group Information Sessions

We organize group information sessions and presentations to address students’ shared needs. Through these sessions, we aim to raise awareness of university life and support students’ academic and personal development.

The content of group presentations and information sessions is shaped by students’ needs and the priorities of the academic term.

3- Information and Referrals

We help students access the information and support they need throughout their university experience. We provide information about academic processes, university resources, student support services, and available resources.

By assessing students’ needs, we also help connect them with the relevant academic and administrative units. Through this approach, we aim to help students become familiar with the university’s support systems, access appropriate resources, and manage their own university experience more effectively.

4- Peer Advising Program

The Peer Advising Program aims to support Özyeğin University students in adapting to university life, becoming familiar with campus resources, and engaging with the university community.

Through the program, trained volunteer student peer advisors share their university experiences and help new students adapt to academic and social life. They help students find answers to their questions about university life, explore the opportunities available at the university, and access relevant support resources when needed.

Through the Peer Advising Program, we aim to strengthen experience-sharing and peer solidarity, foster a sense of belonging to the university, and encourage students to participate more confidently and actively in university life.
