Seed Funds

Özyeğin University runs two significant funding programs to support innovative and interdisciplinary research and societal impact projects: the Seed Research Program and the Societal Impact Seed Fund Program. Both programs align with the university’s goal of becoming a “Globally Impactful Entrepreneurial Research University” and contribute significantly to various fields. The Seed Research Program supports interdisciplinary scientific research and innovative ideas, while the Societal Impact Seed Fund Program encourages interdisciplinary projects addressing societal challenges. These programs reinforce the university’s leadership in research and societal contribution.

Seed Research Program

The Seed Research Program is designed to encourage scientific curiosity and the realization of innovative ideas. It supports early-stage research projects, enabling the development of ideas that can evolve into more comprehensive studies. The program aims to foster interdisciplinary collaborations among academics and researchers within the university and strengthen the research culture.

Launched in the 2024–2025 academic year, the program attracted 44 applications, from which 19 projects were selected following a rigorous evaluation by a panel comprising faculty deans and institute directors. The program will continue annually, promoting excellence and contributing to the university's vibrant and interdisciplinary research culture.

Societal Impact Seed Fund Program

The Societal Impact Seed Fund Program aligns with Özyeğin University’s societal contribution and global impact goals. It supports projects that address societal challenges in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on areas such as climate crisis, circular economy, disaster management, public health, and social sustainability.

Launched in the 2024-2025 academic year, the program encourages interdisciplinary collaborations among academics, civil society organizations, and public and private sector representatives. It prioritizes actionable solutions that deliver measurable and scalable societal benefits. The program integrates impact-focused research, teaching, and engagement. For the 2024-2025 period, 10 applications were received and are currently under evaluation.
