8th AACCP (Architecture Archaeology and Contemporary City Planning) Symposium Hosted by Özyeğin University
The 8th edition of the AACCP (Architecture Archaeology and Contemporary City Planning) symposium, which has been organized in a different city across the world since its inception in 2014, hosted by Özyeğin University. The opening addresses were delivered by our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk, HE Massimo Gaiani, the ambassador of Italy in Ankara, and Prof. Dr. Aslıhan Ünlü, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design. The symposium took place online from April 26 through May 2, 2021.
In her address, our Rector Prof Dr. Esra Gençtürk remarked that Özyeğin University is a young, research university on par with European standards with a multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary vision, and stated that the Prix de Istanbul award, which will be presented by the symposium for the first time this year and will turn into a tradition over the coming years, is a great source of excitement for Özyeğin University. HE Massimo Gaiani, the ambassador of Italy in Ankara, also remarked that academic collaborations between Italy and Turkey has been continuing on different platforms for a long time and this is a great source of pride for both countries.
The symposium aims to foster and promote the contact and interaction among scientists from different disciplines, in particular in the fields of architecture, archeology, and urban planning. This year’s edition is especially noteworthy as the Prix de Istanbul award will be presented for the first time by the symposium. Prix de Istanbul is a “Best Paper Award” which will be conferred in July 2021 by Özyeğin University with the contributions of esteemed members of the jury.
The conference is organized under the mentorship of Dr. Alessandro Camiz and Dr. Zeynep Ceylanlı, members of the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Özyeğin University who have attended several AACCP sessions to date. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the symposium held online this year.
