CEEE/EÇEM ENERGY SESSIONS – TurkeyBuild 2018

Center for Energy, Environment and Economy (CEEE/EÇEM) is attending Yapı Fuarı - Turkeybuild Istanbul 2018 which will be held on 8-12 May 2018 in Tuyap. CEEE/EÇEM participates to the event with two panels organised under the EU Sustainable Energy Week Energy Days

First panel titled Social-Behavioral Aspects of Energy Consumption will be on 10th of May at between 11:00-12:00. With active systems’ increased ability to give more control to users through their interactive interfaces and mobile applications, as well as to learn their preferences, and offer them different comfort options, the interaction between these systems and users has soared. Likewise, studies which focus on human behavior towards energy efficiency in buildings have expanded to include new aspects, including data analyses, system/product design, ergonomics, comfort, and health, which are now collectively referred as “human-building interaction”. The session will focus on how newly-developed innovative systems & concepts for human-building interaction shape user behavior, and how right behavior can be encouraged towards higher energy efficiency.

Second panel titled Advanced Energy Solutions for Complex Buildings will be on the same day at between 15:30-17:00. Sustainable energy practices call for energy efficient and comfortable operation both during construction and post-construction. Restoration of complex buildings, such as hospitals, which need to provide continuous service require highly detailed and multidimensional studies. The panel discussion will bring together subject matter experts from the academic, public, investment, energy, architecture, and user communities to discuss what have so far been done to improve energy performance without hindering the operation of complex buildings, what challenges are/should be overcome, and how these efforts culminate into financial benefits. Adnan Menderes University Hospital’s building will be analyzed as a case study during the panel discussion, and drawing from this example, complex buildings will be examined closer, with all their programs, functions, and typologies. The panel discussion will open to discussion the increased responsibility of all stakeholders, including from public, investment, and other communities, to make these type of projects more widespread.
