2013-14 Academic Year Undergraduate Academic Merit Scholarships


They are provided to the successful undergraduate students. Scopes, quotas and conditions for undergraduate academic merit scholarships are determined for every academic year by the Board of Trustees.

Scholarship Scope 

Academic merit scholarships are non refundable cash stipends awarded for a period of 8 months in October, November, December, January in the Fall semester and February, March, April and May in the Spring semester.

Scholarships are awarded in four different categories of 750 TL, 600 TL, 450 TL and 300 TL based on students’ academic achievements.

Monthly academic merit scholarships to be awarded for the subsequent academic year can be revised by the Board of Trustees each year in the month of January.

Application Requirements 

Students who satisfy the following requirements can benefit from academic merit scholarships within the available quota.

  • To  be a registered student in one of the degree programs offered by OzU
  • To have studied at OZU as an undergraduate student both in the Fall and Spring semesters,
  • As of the end of the Spring semester; to have studied at least 2 semesters and at most 7 semesters in any undergraduate programs, excluding the English Preparatory Program and the summer sessions
  • Not to have accumulated the required credits for graduation as of the end of the Spring semester,
  • To have earned at least 24 ETCS credits both in the Fall and Spring semesters
  • To have achieved a semester GPA of at least 2.50 both in the Fall and Spring semesters
  • To have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 at the end of the Spring semester
  • Not to have been subject to any disciplinary action within the last academic year. 

Quotas
 
Quotas for academic merit scholarships are determined separately for each scholarship category based on undergraduate programs and tuition waivers awarded at the time of admission.
Students that satisfy the first four criteria listed above in the “Application Requirements” are classified by their undergraduate programs and tuition waivers. The total scholarship quota to be allocated for each group is 20% of the total number of students in the relevant group. The quota is allocated equally to all scholarship categories (5%, 5%, 5%, 5%). Quotas are determined at the end of the Spring semester and take effect pursuant to the approval of the Rector.
 
Scholarship Distribution
 
Eligible students for academic merit scholarships are determined by the Student Services Director’s Office, using the following method based on the results of the academic evaluations to be conducted at the end of the Spring semester; and students are notified in the final week of July after the approval of the Rector. 

  • Students that satisfy the first four criteria listed above in the “Application Requirements” are listed individually by their undergraduate program and tuition waivers.
  • Students in each list are ranked based on their CGPA from highest to lowest. In case the grade point averages are the same, the student who earned more credits is ranked higher.
  • Starting from the student ranked on the top of the list, scholarships are awarded to those that satisfy all of the requirements listed in the “Application Requirements” section within the relevant quota set forth for each scholarship category. 

Scholarship Term and Continuity

  • Scholarships are valid for the subsequent academic year.  Student can benefit from scholarships in the subsequent academic years as well. Students who are subject to disciplinary action will lose their academic merit scholarships.
