Research projects conducted at OzU Psychology with funding

Research Grants:

Prof. Dr. H. Canan Sümer received a research grant from TUBİTAK 1001 (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) for the project titled "Nezaketsizlikten Tacize, İş Yerinde Kötü Muamele: Kültürel Bağlamda Sonuçlar ve Müdahale Yöntemler" (November 2019-July 2022). 

Dr. İbrahim Acar works on a project titled “Examining the Effects of Parents’ Individual, Familial, and Environmental Stressors on Children’s Psychological Health in the Context of Covid-19 Pandemic” in collaboration with Dr. Gizem Arıkan, Dr. Fatma Özge Uysal and Prof. Dr. Asiye Kumru. The purpose of the project, funded by TUBITAK, is to determine parents’ and children’s individual, familial, and societal/environmental stress sources emerged during the Covid-19 pandemic in Turkey and investigate how these stress sources may affect psychological health of both parents and children.   

Assoc. Prof. Nilüfer Kafescioğlu received a research grant from TUBITAK [The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey] to conduct her study “Factors Influencing the Marital Relationship in the First Years of Marriage” with Assist. Prof. Gizem Arikan and Assoc. Prof. Asiye Kumru between 1, June, 2014-1, June, 2017.

Prof. Dr. Asiye Kumru received a grant as part of the program “Basic Research Initiative” TTA: Reliance Optimization for Autonomous Systems for the research project entitled “The Influence of Cultural Factors on Trust in Automation”.

Assist. Prof. Gizem Arıkan and other members of the Faculty of Social Sciences received a grant for the multidisciplinary project “ Literature’s Witnessing the History of Democratization in Turkey: Coups and Novels” from TUBITAK [The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey].

Assist. Prof. Deniz Tahiroğlu received funding from TUBITAK [The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey] for her project "The development and social and cognitive correlates of pretend play in preschool children".

Assist. Prof. Justin Marcus and Co-PI - Barbara A Fritzshce (University of Central Florida) received a research grant from TUBITAK [The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey] for their project “Old wolf, old lamb: An Examination of the Work Experiences and Outcomes of Older Workers in Turkey”.

Assist. Prof. Gizem Arikan received a research grant from TUBITAK [The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey] to conduct her research on Improving the mother-child attachment relationship with circle of security parenting training program with Prof. Dr. Asiye Kumru, as well as Prof. Dr. Feyza Corapci in 2015.

Assist. Prof. Ayfer Dost Gözkan received a research grant from TUBITAK [The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey] to conduct her study “Adolescents’ disclosure to their parents: Individual and familial predictors and positive development” between 15, November, 2015-15, November, 2017.

Asistant Prof. Alper Açık was one of the three Ozyegin coordinators of the European Commission funded H2020 project titled PLOTINA together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berna Zengin Arslan and Dr. Leyla Kayhan Elbirlik. PLOTINA stands for “Promoting gender balance and inclusion in research, innovation and training”, and within its context Ozyegin University Gender Equality Plan was developed and implemented.
