Call for Nominations and Applications for the Position of Director
School of Languages (ScOLa), Özyeğin University

Özyeğin University invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of the School of Languages (ScOLa). The appointment will take effect on July 15, 2026. We are seeking an accomplished, innovative, and collaborative leader who will advance the School’s contribution to high-quality language education, student success, and the University’s strategic goals.

As the chief academic and administrative officer of ScOLa, the Director will report to the Rector and serve as a member of the Deans’ Council, providing strategic direction for the English Preparatory, Undergraduate English, and Modern Languages programs in alignment with the University’s mission. The Director will promote excellence in teaching and learning, strengthen program quality, support instructor development, and oversee academic and administrative operations, including planning, budgeting, staffing, and quality assurance, while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.

Candidates are expected to hold at least a master’s degree in language education, applied linguistics, foreign language teaching, or a closely related discipline. They should have a strong academic and professional record, with demonstrated experience in the design, management, and quality assurance of language programs, as well as a solid background in teaching and scholarly or applied work. Significant leadership experience in academic administration is highly desirable. Experience with international accreditation processes and leading in multilingual and multicultural environments is preferred.

Nominations and applications should include a detailed curriculum vitae, a cover letter outlining the candidate’s qualifications, leadership experience, and vision for ScOLa, and contact information for at least three professional references. About School of Languages (ScOLa)

The School of Languages at Özyeğin University comprises three programs: the English Preparatory Program, the Undergraduate English Program, and the Modern Languages Program, serving approximately 1,300 preparatory students and supported by a total of 110 instructors, including 70 in the Preparatory Program. These programs are designed to support students’ academic and professional language development in line with clearly defined educational goals. The English Preparatory Program equips students with advanced written and oral English proficiency and academic skills, while the Undergraduate English Program develops academic communication, critical thinking, and research competencies. The Modern Languages Program offers instruction in a range of global languages, fostering multilingual and intercultural competence. ScOLa is accredited by Eaquals with “Excellence in Language Education,” most recently renewed through June 30, 2028.
