Hikmet Taşdemir

HSE Coordinator

Hikmet Taşdemir obtained his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in February 1995. He received his master’s degree from Yeni Yüzyıl University in 2013. He holds an A class Occupational Safety certificate from the Ministry of Labor, and presently serves as the official Occupational Safety Expert at Özyeğin University. Hikmet also holds the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. During his career at Culligan International from 1996 to 2001, he built process water, potable water and sea water treatment facilities in the well-known cities and institutions in Turkey, Turkmenistan and Russia. From 2001 to 2011, he served as the Corporate or Project HSEQ Coordinator at Turkish companies or international joint ventures (i.e. BEJV, IC İçtaş) in the construction sector. During these years, he built, supervised and inspected large construction sites in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Iraq, Libya, Romania, and Oman, and ensured their compliance with the ISO 9001, ISO 14100 and OHSAS 18001 requirements for US Army Corporation, Chevron Texaco, Philip Morris, and Lukoil, as well as the ministries and established organizations in the respective countries. From 2008 to 2009, he concurrently served as the HSE Manager at Fraport-IC, a joint venture on airport operation, while assigned for the construction of the Antalya Airport. Hikmet founded the Health & Safety and Environment Department at Özyeğin University in 2011 and has since been serving as the HSE Coordinator in charge of on-campus health and security services. During his career at Özyeğin University, he took the lead to fulfill all the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Environment (ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001) Management Systems. Today, he still continues to inspect, supervise and provide guidance for compliance with the standards to all departments at the campus. He also managed the LEED processes during the construction of on-campus buildings which were subsequently awarded the Gold Certificate by the USGBC.

Şerif Demirel

Security Manager

Serif Demirel has been working as Security Manager at the Health, Safety, and Environment Department since 2014. He served as Security Chief and Assistant Security Manager at Koç University from 1993 through 2012. From 2012 through 2014, he worked as  Administrative Services Manager at MediaSa Media Group affiliated with the Sabancı Group. He completed his military service in 1991 in the Cyprus Turkish Peace Force Command. He was born in Samsun in 1971, and is married with 2 kids.

Erdi Tüzün

HSE Engineer

Erdi Tüzün joined Özyeğin University in 2016 where he has been working as Health & Safety and Environment Engineer. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 2013. Also, he graduated from the Emergency and Disaster Management Program at Ataturk University in 2020.  He completed his internships at the Environment Laboratory at ITU, Construction Department at Garanti Bank, and at the Directorate of Environmental Protection and Control at Ataşehir Municipality in 2011, 2012, and 2013, respectively. He served as Part-Time Assistant at the Human Resources Department at Garanti Bank from 2008 through 2011. He worked as Reporting Specialist in the Reporting Department at the AEM Environment Laboratory from 2013 through 2014. He holds a Class B Occupational Safety Expertise Certificate, a NEBOSH Certificate (International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety), an ITU Quality Management  Certificate, Working at Height Trainer, Fire Fighting Trainer and Consultant Certificates, and Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001) Internal Auditor certificates. He has also completed AKUT, First Aid, and Fire Fighting training programs.   

Murat Adıgüzel

HSE Engineer

Murat Adıgüzel joined Özyeğin University in 2016 where he has been working as Construction Site Inspector at the Health & Safety and Environment Department. He received his master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety from Istanbul Gedik University.  He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Anadolu University, and in Occupational Health and Safety from Istanbul University. He received his associate degrees in Occupational Health and Safety and in Air Transportation Management from Atatürk University as well as in Electric from Cumhuriyet University. He completed his internship at the Pendik Naval Shipyard from 2004 through 2005. Between 2008 ad 2010, he worked as a ship electrical installation and panel manufacturing manager at Tuzla Shipyard. From 2013 through 2015, he worked in the Occupational Health and Safety unit at Tuna Training and Accreditation.  He holds a Class B Occupational Safety Expertise Certificate, a  Chief Civil Defense Officer Certificate, Working at Height Trainer, Fire Fighting Trainer and Consultant Certificates, and Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001) Internal Auditor certificates. He has also completed AKUT, First Aid, and Fire Fighting training programs. 

Dr. Ahmet Murat Albayrak

Occupational Physician

Murat Albayrak has been working as an occupational physician at the Health Center at Özyeğin University since 2017.  He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Medicine at 19 Mayıs University, Samsun in 1994. He worked for public institutions from 1994 through 2013. He has been serving as occupational physician since 2013.
