Abstract:

A Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) generates a sinusoidal signal, which is a significant component of many communication systems using modulation schemes. A CORDIC algorithm offers lower latency and minimum memory requirement for this module compared to look-up based methods. The latency depends on the number of iterations, which is determined by the number of angles in the rotation set. However, it is necessary to maintain high spectral purity to optimize the overall system performance. Particularly for a quantum-enhanced communication system where latency becomes the milestone and bottleneck for the efficiency of the overall performance to optimize the utilization of the opportunity that quantum measurement offers while maintaining high spectral purity. Hence, by using CORDIC II algorithm’s angle set, the proposed design’s implementation generates output with 64% latency reduction compared to conventional CORDIC based DDS implementation and 72.2 dB SFDR value.

Bio:

Nur Fajar Rizqi Annafianto obtained his undergraduate degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) from Bilkent University in 2017. After that, he started working in the research and development of the optical communication project which is owned by Ozyegin University’s laboratory. He continues his research life at National Institude of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Maryland USA. There, he involves in quantum-enhanced communication research group as FPGA engineer. He is responsible for the modulation and demodulation schemes of communication system and also the radio-frequency signal synthesize. He has been pursuing his MSc degree in EEE under the supervision of Prof. Dr. H. Fatih Uğurdağ.
