Abstract:

As the adaptation of wind power plants increases, questions regarding its optimal adaptation arise. This study answers two questions regarding wind farm optimization, where to place wind farms and how to arrange wind turbines inside the wind farm for maximum efficiency of the power plant. This study assesses the advantage of interdisciplinary studies involving computational intelligence and renewable energy fields.  Computational intelligence often refers to using algorithms to solve optimization problems. Among the issues tackled in the optimization of wind, plants are costs, sizing, and placement problems.  The goal of this research is to increase the possibility of using renewable energy sources and reduce the dependence on fossil fuels globally. The environmental impact of wind farms on greenhouse gas reduction and employment opportunities are investigated. The findings suggest the attractiveness of the interdisciplinary approaches and the potential for computational intelligence and geographical information systems in transforming the wind energy sector. The study also provides researchers a comprehensive review of available literature in addition to frameworks and models to help with subsequent studies on the optimization of wind farms.
