SEC 150 Living with Mindfullness

This course teaches mindfulness with process, scientific background and practice and provides a foundation to integrate mindfulness practice into students’ lives through practice and discussion with real life examples. The course aims to support students in management of stress and anxiety and other key emotions in order to sharpen their focus, awaken self -compassion muscles through neuroplasticity as a change agent and act of self-care, and create active joy, loving kindness and equanimity as endless qualities supporting positive psychology in a student’s life.

This experiential course is an introduction to mindfulness, enabling students to embed mindfulness into their lives for greater well-being by gaining knowledge on what mindfulness is, practicing it in class and participate in discussions of how actually mindfulness affects our lives. These effects range from stress reduction, recognition of our body’s clues as to our inner world, to being genuinely present in the moment, healthy management of our emotions and mind’s thought stream, to resilience and to transforming to becoming our true self, realizing possibly our life purpose and meaning.
